Coaching with Shasta

Given the same circumstances, one person can be broken and bitter for life while the other can look back at those defining moments where their life truly became full.

My passion is journeying with people.  My approach is completely collaborative.  I believe we are all our own best coach, but sometimes we need to borrow someone else’s hope, see ourselves through the eyes of another, have a cheerleader who believes in us, have someone who can objectively see through the issues and ask clarifying questions.  I am energized by being in relationships with people as they hunger for more intentionality in their lives.

A key word you’ll hear from me often is “alignment.”  Are you living in alignment with who are you, what you value and who you want to be?  Does your life feel congruent?  Even in the midst of loss, transition, pain and unknown futures there has to be a road that feels “good” to you.  It’s not my role to tell you what I think your values should be; more importantly we will look at what you value and identify areas that need attention, focus, action and evaluation.

And sometimes our values compete with each other as we value the security a certain job or relationship provides but it doesn’t provide other things we value in life.  Many of us have found ourselves in compromising situations or feeling like we might “crash and burn;” that’s often a result of trying to live out various values that haven’t been prioritized.  Together, we’ll be intentional about your life—identifying the aspects that are important to you and coming up with ideas, suggestions & strategies together as we address: Where you are now? Where do you want to be? And, how you can get there?

I know the significance of listening and the value of being heard and validated.  Not judged or evaluated or fixed—just heard.  I listen with understanding and our conversations are completely confidential.  I know how confusing choices can be, how overwhelming a lack of direction can feel and how lonely it feels to have to end some things and begin new ones.  I’m not here to psycho-analyze you, simply to journey with you in a strategic and supportive way, ensuring that along the way you become more of what you hope for.

My training includes a Masters Degree in Spiritual Growth and a bachelors degree in Communication; plus nearly a decade of experience in short-term counseling, coaching leaders and teams, speaking at international motivational and teaching venues, organizing events and retreats; managing a multi-million dollar company and starting 2 non-profits. However, I firmly believe that my most significant training comes from the ups-and-downs of life—both my own transitions in jobs, schools, long–term travels, issues with self-identity, losses of relationships, divorce and re-marriage and the stories from dozens of others who have trusted me into their hearts in some of life’s most vulnerable moments including births, “coming-out” experiences, marriages, divorces, family pain & deaths.

Developed from the needs I saw in my clients, I launched GirlFriendCircles.com in 2008 as a resource to women in cities across the country to provide an online tool to help women expand their circle of local friends. So much of our well-being depends upon our relationships, not just with the one significant other, but more profoundly, with our sense of being known, supported and loved by our girlfriends.

I’m a good friend and I will treat you as that-- with respect, support and hope.  You can ask me any questions via email or we can set up a free consultation to see if it feels like we’re the right fit together for this phase of your life.
